Mr. Hinman has been a practicing criminal defense attorney in Dalton and
northwest Georgia since 1987. He has represented thousands of people
charged with criminal offenses.
He graduated from the Mercer University School of Law and was admited to
the State Bar of Georgia in 1981. He received his college degree
from Emory University in 1973. He is admitted to practice in all
Georgia trial and appellate courts, in federal trial and appellate
courts, and in the Supreme Court of the United States.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Hinman served as
legal counsel in the State Senate, as an Assistant Attorney General in
Atlanta, and as an Assistant District Attorney in Dalton and Chatsworth.
Thus he has worked for all three branches of state government–
legislative, executive and judicial.
His practice is now primarily devoted to the defense of DUI
and serious traffic offenses. He also handles driver’s license
issues such as suspensions and revocations.
Mr. Hinman is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal
Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers,
and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He is a graduate of The National College for DUI Defense.
He is certified in the administration of field sobriety tests, and on
the Intoxilyzer 5000 breath testing machine.
